5 Steps to a Carefree Life
Because who doesn’t want a carefree life!? Jason and I had the honor of ministering together on Sunday at our home church. Our pastor has been doing a series on living a carefree life and Sunday we put some practical steps to application! Let’s face it…life can be a real pain in the butt.
It can weigh you down with the day to day and sometimes make you feel completely hopeless.
It doesn’t have to be that way though!
Christ has set us free!
His will isn’t for us to struggle, barely grasping for air and treading water while wave after wave overwhelms us.
The Bible doesn’t say that we will be without struggles…but He did say that He has overcome the world. Which means WE, if we are in Him, have overcome the world as well.
You can have the best of intentions and be prayed up. You can be bound and determined to conquer the day but if you don’t take practical steps you may never achieve the task at hand. You can have all the head knowledge in the world and be in the top of your class, the best in your field, but if you don’t have steps to put your knowledge into practice, it is all completely useless.
Matthew 6:27 “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Jesus Christ endured the horror of the cross so you could have victory in your battle. Your worry won’t change the outcome of your situation.
Also, the majority of times the outcome is different from your perception of what it should be. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the wrong outcome.
Luke 12:27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”
We’re so worried about the waves and ripples in our life that we forget Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith, walked on water.
Give thanks daily. Make a list of things you’re thankful for everyday. When you wake up, set your intention for the day. First thing.
Give yourself permission to fail. You realize that so many people who are super successful now have failed miserably in the past? Here’s a list of just a few…
Oprah was told she was too emotion and not right for TV. Dr. Seuss was turned down by twenty seven publishers. Col. Sanders pitched his recipe to over 1,000 investor and was 68 years old before he finally found a buyer. Walt Disney was fired by his news editor for his lack of imagination. HIs 1st animation company went bankrupt and he was turned down 302 times for financing. Michael Jordan was quoted as saying, “I have missed over 9,000 shotes in my career, lost over 300 games. I have failed over and over and over. And that is why I succeed.”
Some of us get “land locked.” We wait around and do nothing waiting on God to show us His will when all the while He’s waiting on you to show you your will.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (MSG) So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.
Stop camping out in the past with guilt and what ifs. All that does is rob today of God’s presence, blessings and purpose.
Put all your scars to rest.
Opposite: Don’t look so much to the future that you forget to look at your present. Don’t be so Heavenly minded that you’re no earthly good.
We forget that our sins of the past are forgiven but we still dwell on them and beat ourselves up. We’re punished more by our sins than for our sins. Sometimes He’s more concerned with the battle in you than the battle around you!
People are going to have their opinions of you no matter what. People are going to talk about you anyway, you might as well give them something to talk about!
Give other people permission to be who they are because you can’t change anyone.
That’s the Holy Spirit’s job. News flash…you’re not the Holy Spirit!
Practical steps are the key to overcoming the obstacles to a carefree life.
If we’re full of worry and doubt we leave no room for the Holy Spirit to minister to us.
If we’re not full of God’s Word, which is His promises to us, we are building a wall around our hearts for what God has for us.
If God didn’t want us to win and overcome then why’d He call us more than conquerors?
Here is some scripture to encourage you…
Galatians 5:1 says “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Romans 8:31-39 (MSG)
So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one. None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
Remember, what you don’t get healed of gets handed down to your children and their children, for thousands of generations to come.
What a heavy load to carry when you have the power and authority NOW to change it!
Make a decision to choose to live a carefree life.
You’ll be glad you did!
