New Year! New You!

Sounds like a super cheesy late night infomercial doesn’t it?
For the low low price of 3 easy payments of $19.99 you’ll get a month supply of ‘Changeyourlife Lotion’
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
Order within the next 30 minutes and you’ll get TWO bottles for the price of one!
Don’t you wish it were that easy?
I think I’d rub anything all over me if it were…
Well, 2016 was less than stellar for us but I can honestly say that every thing that happened last year that the enemy meant to harm and destroy us, God was faithful and turned for our good.
2017 started with such promise.
High hopes of a new beginning and changed behaviors.
Our family sets “goals” each year instead of resolutions.
Wanna hear my goals?
-I want to memorize Psalm 91
to continue writing
to use chatbooks (a picture printing app that essentially does scrapbooking for me.  One day I will get my Creative Memories crap back out…not anytime soon.  Until then, I’ll pay $8 a book for someone else to do it for me…)
get in the bed by 10 pm (that one has yet to materialize…grace upon grace)
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE WINNER OF THE OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE FOR THE 25th YEAR IN A ROW….
get healthy!
award
“Thank you, thank you!  Really, this was so unexpected!  I’d like to thank Starbucks Cake Pops, Dave’s Donuts, all the pizza places (you know who you are! 😉 and Paula Vega Cupcakes for making this goal such a showstopper!  I’d also like to thank Jill for falling off the wagon for a 42nd time in a row!  You make this goal possible!”
But seriously.
Notice I didn’t say “lose weight.”
I want to honestly be healthy.
I want everything I do to glorify God.
I can’t possibly if I’m a slave to food.
So, how do I know this year is going to be different?
Because the devil has already been hot on my tail.
10 days in and he’s hard at work on me, my mind, my friends.
He’s a real piece of work.
Here’s an example:
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago about a book I’m starting the year out with called “You Are Not What You Weigh” by Lisa Bevere and how I feel it is going to be a game changer.  As soon as I announced on Facebook that I was opening up a closed group for ladies to join and read the book with me, he moved in.
“Who do you think you are?  You have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“No one is going to lose any weight with this book!  Look at the author!  She’s as skinny as a rail!”
“You’re only going to embarrass yourself.”
“It’s going to be a fat failure…just like you.”
As soon as those thoughts started assaulting me, I hit him back with the truth of God’s word.
I cast down all doubt and fear and held those thoughts captive that were contrary to God’s word.
Hey, I may not be Billy Blanks selling a new Tae-Bo video, but I am learning that I can pack a punch.
I am so grateful for this small, albeit mighty, group of ladies, because we are learning transparency, faith and community.
We are living the verses about perfect love casting out all fear and there being no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
We are getting set free.
Free.
Free not just for a certain number on the scale, but for a change in our hearts.
Free from the lies of the enemy who hates us, wants to destroy us, and render us ineffective.
Hearts that love deeply for the things God has for us and the things God wants us to do.
Things that will not only change us and those around us, but for our family trees.
So that one day, the only acceptance speech that will matter is when we are at the feet of the King of Kings and we hear “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
