Reflection Friday: Contentment
As I reflect on this past week I’m struck by several things.
Mainly I’m so thankful for the diversity of our group.
We have so many denominations and ages, and life experiences.
Young teens, grandmas, empty nesters, stay at home moms, working moms, singles, divorcees...in our differences, we all have something to give.
But I’m also so thankful that it was God who made us that way.
We aren’t all eyes, feet, hands.
We aren’t all pastors, teachers, mothers.
When the enemy comes in and whispers to you that are role isn’t important enough, that your ability or talent isn’t of any count because it’s not like hers…you can remind him of Ephesians 4:11.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
Lord have mercy forgive us for being discontent.
Forgive me for shirking my talents and abilities because it didn’t look like hers.
He made us this way “to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
I can’t sing. But I can love the heck out of you.
I can’t preach. But I can encourage you.
And instead of looking at the handful I don’t have, I’m going to thank Him for the heartful that I do.
What did you take away from this week?
I’m a book-shelving, former tap dancer, wanna be writer, singer,
and banjo player, mother of 4, wife of 1, follower of Christ,
walking in the shadow of the Proverbs 31 woman
and redeemed by the grace and love of an Almighty God…
just living the dream.
