As summer winds down and school will soon start, some of you will be entering new seasons of life.
A lot of you are already preparing yourself for a year full of “last time firsts.”
Some of you will take care of an elderly parent.
Send your first born to Kindergarten.
Some of you may soon start a new job and have a first day of your own.
I want to give you another shot in the arm.
God has been, is and will be with you in every season you will be walking through.
If you lose a job.
If you lose a parent or spouse.
If your house is quiet due to an empty nest.
God is with you.
I will never leave you. I will never abandon you. Hebrews 13:5
His heart aches to spend time with you.
That’s why He created mankind in the first place.
Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26)
Through every season, God is speaking to you.
It’s just up to you to listen.
In the book of 1 Samuel 3 the Lord called Samuel THREE times before Samuel recognized His voice.
And even after all that, the prophet Eli had to help Samuel out by telling him what to do and how to respond.
Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
Verse 7 even says that Samuel didn’t even know the Lord at this point. God had not been revealed to Samuel.
I say that to give you another shot in the arm.
Let’s Dive Deeper:
Regardless of what season you are in right now.
Regardless of how “bad” of a Christian you think you are.
Regardless of how holy you think you are…
First, God is speaking to His creation.
Speaking even to your son whom you’ve bloodied your knees for praying for him to be saved.
Speaking even to your friend who is so negative about every little thing.
Speaking even to the Christian who cut teeth on the church pew but cuddles with a pet sin every night.
Speaking even to the husband who thinks he has everything figured out.
Speaking even to the mom who feels completely lost in diapers and formula.
Speaking even to the grandma who feels completely lost in an empty house.
PLEASE don’t put God in a box by thinking a situation is too far gone for God to move.
He is the God of the impossible.
Secondly, surround yourself with those who will not only lift you up, but will help you hear God’s voice.
Without Eli realizing that what Samuel was hearing was actually God’s voice, history would have been completely different.
God puts people in your life, and sometimes removes them, FOR you. To glorify Him.
Third, be confident in your “gut feeling/mother’s intuition,” and realize it’s the voice of God.
How do you know though?
God is not going to tell you to do something that is contrary to His word.
He’s not going to tell you to act without integrity.
Or steal from your employer.
He will drop a friend’s name into your mind. Pray for them.
He may give you the thought to take a different route to work. Do it.
He will encourage you to restore a broken relationship. Time is short.
He may put you in a random person’s life because He needs you to love on them for Him. He’s a good Father.
Whatever you may be thinking or feeling, line it up with the word and character of God.
And then act accordingly.
