Well lookie there! I gotta blog!
Well I have had a blog for over 2 years now. Seems like everyone has a blog these days.
But you see, you shared yours.
A teeny four letter word kept me from sharing mine…
The funny thing about freedom is that I won’t have fear keeping me from sharing it. Not to say I’m not still a little fearful. But like I said before I’m a work in progress…
SO, what could I be afraid of?
Welllllll, mainly of what you think of me… because like the title of my blog says this is where a whole lot of life meets a little bit of crazy.
Or maybe its the other way around 🙂
But as my mom shouted at me as I was walking away from the car some 25+ years ago as I was heading to my first church camp by myself, “JUST BE YOURSELF AND THEY WILL LOVE YOU!!!!!!”
Here’s the thing: that may not be true. You may NOT love me. You may think, “Gee cripes! She’s nuttier than a fruitcake!”
And I’m okay with that.
If my crazy helps someone feel better about their crazy…awesome!
If my struggles help someone set themselves free? Praise the Lawd!
Because if you say you don’t have struggles then you need to pray because you a big ol dirty liar!
And you need Jesus.
Don’t we all…
Another funny thing about freedom is that I don’t care what you think about me.
Well, not really.
Okay, I do.
But I won’t lose any sleep over it. And that takes a lot for me to say because naturally I’m a people pleaser, I care about if you like me, and what you think of me. With my first teaching job, as a staff, we took a Gallup Strengths Finder Assessment.
It. Was. AWESOME.
I love taking surveys and this was a giant survey. About me!
Except instead of getting free coupons in the mail or entered for a Bahamas cruise for filling the thing out, I got a printout of my top 5 strengths. One of mine was WOO. Cool huh? It stands for Win Others Over. Honest to God, that’s one of my strengths! What in the world!? So, see? Me wanting you to like me is ingrained in my DNA. It’s one of my strengths for Heaven sake!
One thing I’ve learned over the past year is that the only person I have to worry about pleasing is the Lord. He’s the only one I gotta woo. And if I woo you along the way then that’s awesome!
Hop on the crazy train!
Sometimes it’s a little hectic but we always have a lot of fun!
