Fervent Week 7

Girls!  Can you see it?!  The light at the end of our tunnel is near!  I am getting sad and excited all at the same time. I am so expectant of the awesome things God is going to do in our lives through this study and I’ve already heard some amazing things. Keep it up!!

This last week we looked at Strategy 9: Your Hurts and Strategy 10: Your Relationships. Both areas where the enemy can really get us in our tenderest of spots.  People are difficult. They come to you layered with their own hurts, expectations, ideas and beliefs.  I truly think it’s God’s grace that allows anyone to get along at all!

In Strategy 9: Your hurts, reminded me of a book I read once by John Bevere called “The Spirit of Offense.”  That book and Fervent quickly showed me that the enemy is behind EVERY ounce of discord between individuals, groups and countries. To live victorious we must be obedient to what God tells us.  Even the hard stuff. Even when we have to eat a big ol plate of crow or swallow our pride. Even when the person we need to forgive deserves NOTHING, especially our forgiveness.
We do it for God.
For ourselves.
I don’t necessarily like Oprah, but I remember her saying, “Unforgiveness is like drinking poison hoping the other person will die.”  Unforgiveness does nothing but kill us slowly and I’ve prayed for you all this week that God will reveal someone in your life whom you need to forgive. God wants you free and He’s set us free. We just need to take it.

In Strategy 10: Your relationships, the thing that kept popping up to me was churches splitting. Churches break up all the time.  Big cities, small cities, mega churches and small country churches.  It doesn’t seem to matter.  If people are involved, it’s going to be tough.  Someone gets mad because they weren’t voted onto the committee or someone doesn’t like the carpet color, or thinks the music is too loud or doesn’t like how often they do communion…oh boy.  We can be a bunch of whiny babies, can’t we!  When we get to Heaven, I am positive that St. Peter will not have a checklist of denominational beliefs to see if we get in.
There will be a checklist though.

1-Do you believe that Christ died for your sins

2-do you believe that He rose again on the 3rd day

3-have you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?

That’s it!  Easy peasy.

Like she said on page 175, “division, disharmony and friendly fire” are the enemy’s tactic. He wants to destroy us from the inside out.  It makes his job so much easier.
Please, please, please let’s not give him so much power.
He is under our feet and Christ has already defeated him for us!!!

Last week!

Read “Amen,” probably the most powerful 8 pages you’ll ever read. As you read, make notes of what you have taken away from this book. It’s so power packed and I know we are better for the journey. Comment sometime before NEXT SUNDAY February 28th 11:59 pm for a chance to win our last prize!!
