Rebellious Rule Follower: Women in the Word

There’s a lot I don’t know about God.
I certainly don’t claim to know it all, Lord, I don’t even claim to know a little!
But one thing I know for certain is, that God is so freaking cool.
I know…deep theology, huh?
I know that His love for His children is so intentional.
Always has been, is, and always will be.
Which brings us to our girl Rahab.
The OG rebellious rule follower of the OT.
Her story wasn’t coincidence.
God chose her long before she became a woman of the night.
Yep, Rahab was a prostitute.
Which just proves that the Lord doesn’t care WHO you are or what your story was.
But it’s all about how your story ends when you allow Him to be your storyteller.
Her story begins in the book of Joshua when she encounters two spies sent by Joshua to scope out Jericho.
The king caught wind of God’s guys being in his territory so he sends men to Rahab’s house and demand she turn over the spies.
Although Rahab was a woman of ill repute, she had a heart tender to the Spirit of God.
She knew she had a heavenly job to do.
And that her obedience was going to change her family tree.
She admitted to the King’s men that she had seen the spies but that’s where the truth stopped.
She lied to the men and said she didn’t know where the spies had gone once the city gates were closed.
Once the king’s men left, she high tailed it to the hiding place with the spies.
This is where she proclaims their God as the God of Heaven and Earth.
And her personal God.
A Canaanite woman.
A Canaanite prostitute.
Knowing about God?
No way.
Yes way darling!
Because the God of now who whispers to you, is the same God who whispered to her.
Want to know something even cooler?
He saw it fit to include Rahab, the hooker, in the genealogy of His only begotten Son.
He is mighty to save girls!
No ONE is beyond His holy heart!
Not you, no matter your past, or your past 5 minutes. 🙂
Not your wayward child.
Not your meaner than a striped snake co-worker.
He is able.
All you or anyone else across this great planet has to do is what Rahab did, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Have you done that today?
If not, it is so easy.  And I’d love to pray with you.
God’s heart beat for Rahab the hooker, the rebellious rule follower, just like it beats wildly for you today.
