Seek and Find: 2018 SJG Summer Bible Series
Ready or not!
Here I come!!!
The little girl’s voice echoed through the halls of her house.
Her insides jumped with the excitement and she let out several nervous giggles at the thought of finding each of her friends who were hiding somewhere among the large rooms.
Time ticked on and her excitement faded to frustration then finally to fear.
I don’t even hear anyone.
Where could they be?
I’ve checked each room, under all the beds, in closets.
Am I all by myself?
Why would they do this to me?
So with a defeated heart, the little girl dropped her head low and left the game.
God is not engaged in a giant game of hide and seek with you.
He has actually been seeking you since He formed you.
He’s not sitting in some far away place, laughing at the fact that you still can’t find Him, or shaking His head at your misfortune, or thinking, “Boy, I really got her this time!”
He is however wanting you to play with Him.
Seek and Find.
His Word says plainly in Jeremiah 29 and Deuteronomy 4,
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
It’s not based upon good behavior, or how pretty you are, how much you have your crap together, how many followers you have on Facebook or the fact that you were born and raised in church.
It’s very simple:
You seek Him.
You will find Him.
No credentials needed.
No letters of recommendation.
No background checks of holiness.
No pedigrees or family trees necessary.
All of your heart.
Set out to seek Him.
The ball is totally in your court.
God’s desire is of course for you to know Him, and love Him. and to serve Him.
But because He is a gentleman, He won’t force anything on you.
He’s waiting for you to seek Him.
There’s no secret code or handshake necessary.
Just a whole heart surrendered to Him and the things He has waiting for you.
To be your Healer, Provider, Sustainer, Comforter, your Everything.
Yesterday, today and forever He’s engaged in a love affair with you.
And He’s shouting out,
Ready or Not! Here she comes!!!
Here’s some scripture to think on today and this week.
In order to get the full meaning of these scriptures, back up and read the whole chapter. Read the verse in context.
Ask yourself these questions:
Who is the writer talking to?
What was the culture like when this was written?
Why is it important that this scripture is here at this particular point?
How can I apply this scripture to my life today?
Do my habits, thoughts, actions, mirror the people this scripture is intended for?
