Wonder Woman Wednesday!
Today’s Wonder Woman Wednesday is actually about Wonder Women. This duo is so amazing, each in their own right. Both have impacted others just by being in their very presence.
I’m SO lucky to have them both in my life.
They are Mariah Scott and Edna Ray Callihan!!!
I had in mind to highlight them several weeks ago but God had different plans. I was scrolling through Facebook on Fathers Day and saw Mariah’s post and it summed up perfectly why they should be honored.
I have known Edna Ray since I was born.
Literally. She and my mom have worked together pounding the floors of the OB unit at Kings Daughters doing what they do best.
Being amazing nurses.
There are so many Edna Ray stories I’ve heard from my mom….
But not only is she an amazing nurse, literally, like so many nurses out there, sacrificing the health of their bodies working the floor, but she’s an amazing mother. She’s raised so many children, I’ve lost count. She picks up the slack of others where it is needed, without question, because it has to be done. She loves unconditionally and if someone happens to cross one of her babies…
She. Will. Cut. You.
Hell hath no fury.
We ALL need someone like that in our life.
Plus, she’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Mariah is literally one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. She lights up a room. She knows how to have fun and lets nothing stop her from achieving her dreams.
I know, that Mariah’s physical disability removed, she’d still be a badass. She has a dogged determination that has gotten her a high school diploma, a college degree in Education, and a relentless drive to get a driver’s license AND through an amazing community fighting behind her, an killer accessible van that gives her dignity and transportation.
She’s a woman on the move.
I’m certain that she has seen some rude stares and downright ridiculous questions and comments. But she handles stupidity with complete grace and mercy.
Bless their heart…you just can’t help stupid sometimes….
I have NEVER heard a sentence of entitlement. Only thankfulness.
I see you and so does God.
He is CRAZY about both of you and He, like so many others, love you so much.
And I want to be just like both of you when I grow up.
